Why structured data matters

Structured data does not directly boost rankings, but it makes your result stand out. A recipe with a star rating, a product with a visible price, or an article with a byline and date all take up more space and earn more clicks than a plain blue link. On competitive queries, rich results are often the difference between a click and a scroll-past.

JSON-LD is Google's recommended format: a single script block in the head or body, separate from your visible HTML, which makes it easy to add without touching your layout.

How to add structured data

Pick the schema type that matches the page and add it as a JSON-LD script:

• Article or BlogPosting for posts, with headline, author, and datePublished.
• Product with an offers block for ecommerce pages, so price and availability can show.
• FAQPage for pages with a genuine question-and-answer section (only where the Q&A is visible on the page).
• Organization or LocalBusiness on your home or contact page for brand and location signals.

Honest limits
